Update: Lackawanna River Clean Up
Over 100 Volunteers picked up over 40 cubic yards of trash, mattresses, sofa, cushions and assorted litter at the recent Lackawanna River Clean Up, held on Saturday and Sunday, April 21 & 22 2007.
In addition to the house materials, about one and a half tons of assorted scrap metal, including shopping carts, a canoe, a wheel barrow, washers and dryers were disposed of; and over 100 automobile and truck tires.
All of this junk was picked up from a stretch of the river spanning from Legget’s Creek off North Main Ave to the West Market Street Bridge in Scranton.
The Lackawanna River Corridor Association would like to Thank everyone that helped in this year’s annual river clean up.
If you are interested in joining the Lackawanna River Corridor Association, or volunteering for future river clean-ups and activities, check out their very interesting site at LRCA.
I joined the association this week, and I am looking forward to upcoming events and clean ups.
